‘Very chic’ isn’t a descriptor you’d expect to hear about a pair of postpartum underwear, but that’s the exact response from the Beauty Director at Vogue in response to The Underwear. In creating The Underwear, we aimed to flip everything you thought about postpartum on its head. They’re functional, consciously made, beautiful, and even a little sexy. Beauty is wellness, and wellness is beauty. Is there a more fitting time of life to feel at your most beautiful and well than postpartum? Dive deep with us below as we examine what makes The Underwear the pick of top beauty editors , doulas, and moms who want the best.

Sartorially Inclined

We worked on developing The Underwear for over a year. We tried and tested every pair of organic, leak-proof, and maternity underwear we could find. Once we were sure we were creating a garment that combined the best of all worlds, we went to straight to NYC’s Garment District. We produced The Underwear in partnership with creatives who have aided the likes of designers Ryan Roche, Mara Hoffman and even created custom pieces for former first lady Michelle Obama. Our production partners have created patterns for Ralph Lauren and won awards and grants from the CFDA. The result? An unparalleled fit that lets you be and feel at your best. Even in those early days of new motherhood.

Technically Comprehensive

The organic cotton body makes The Underwear super breathable. They are ideal for sensitive c-sections, quickening healing while protecting you from clothing snags and friction. Beyond being superbly comfortable, The Underwear provide gentle compression via the compression band that hits just below the bellybutton. They hold you in exactly where you need them to in those early days and weeks after birth. They are also completely leak-proof.

Sustainably Minded

Our choices matter. We wanted to create a garment that benefited not only the wearer, but were also kind to communities and ecosystems. The Underwear are made out of super-soft organic cotton grown and milled in the US. Sourcing and producing in the US greatly reduces the carbon footprint of creating The Underwear. We even package them in sustainable, organic cotton drawstring bags.

This framework was carried through to every aspect of the garment. The compression band is made from Repreve, an eco-friendly fabric made out of recycled bottles. The leak-proof liner is made from PUL produced in the US. It meets all consumer protection requirements for lead, phthalates, and is free of known toxins including BPA, PVCs, chlorine, and all PFAS. The last thing new moms should have to worry about is toxic production practices, especially for something so close to your bodies. These things were top of mind for us, and guided each choice we made.

The weeks and months following birth are challenging, precious…ethereal. Why shouldn’t you feel at your most beautiful after birth? At your most divine? Your body and you have accomplished the miracle of life. What’s more beautiful than that?
